IDEAL (Integrated Databases and Engineering Application Library), is a database management system integrating a suite of application programs for soil investigation, deep excavation, tunneling, soil improvement and piling. IDEAL is used for risk management of engineering hazards particularly for underground construction. The automated processing system allows for monitoring ground behavior continuously. When data measured by carefully installed instrumentations exceeds the control values, instantaneous warning messages are automatically issued to alert the contractors and superintendent who then can take proper action to mitigate disasters. IDEAL was created by MAA during the over ten-year service period as the Geotechnical Specialist Consultant for Taipei’s Mass Rapid Transit System.
